Four-bedroom detached home

Nestled in three acres of mature grounds and woodland brimming with wildlife, Greenacres is a stunning four-bedroom home designed for perfect relaxation.

Owned by award-winning fine art photographer Ed Gordon, the 340sqm (3,660sq ft) property at Baltray, Co Louth was completely renovated in 1999.

The globe-trotting photographer spends six months of each year at his home in Palm Beach, Florida and the remainder in Europe, hopping between Ireland and Greece.

His €400,000 revamp of Greenacres included a new Bangor slate roof, new windows, new electrics and a total re-modelling of the first floor, as well as making the house more energy efficient by pumping insulation into the walls of the property.

"I wanted to hold onto the house's most appealing features, such as the original maple floors," explains Ed, a native of Drogheda.

The photographer then embarked on a 12-month "labour of love", choosing the best possible finish for his home.

His attention to detail is evident throughout the property, with Axminster carpets, Amtico tiles, Villeroy & Boch bathroom fittings, solid teak doors and earthy Farrow & Ball paint used throughout to complement Greenacres' idyllic rural location.

Off the bright entrance hall are Greenacres' main reception rooms, including a living room with double doors leading to the large conservatory that overlooks the secluded grounds. The kitchen and breakfast room features a welcoming Aga and cream-painted kitchen units, as well as a utility room off.

The dining room and another reception room are interlinked.

Upstairs, there are four double bedrooms. The master bedroom features an open fireplace and a large walk-in wardrobe, while the main bathroom includes a shower and sauna room, perfect for relaxing.

Outside, the property's garage was converted into a photographic studio.

Greenacres' is just a 45-minute drive from Dublin Airport.

A self-taught photographer, Ed is currently collaborating with his son Peter on a photographic book entitled Atlantic Fringe, which is devoted to the west of Ireland, as well as documenting the unique wildlife and landscapes of the Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

He won awards for photographs taken in India and his fine art nudes.

This summer he will run a series of photographic landscape and fine art nude workshops in both Ireland and America.
