Bread and Butterslip: colour, whimsy and playfulness
Giving directions to Anne Barber's house, a neighbour of hers notes with a smile, "it's the one with the yellow beetle outside - Anne is not the kind who drives a black Ford Fiesta." A visit to her shop, Butterslip in Kilkenny, confirms that Anne is a lover of colour, whimsy, playfulness and frivolity; a sign in the shop - her manifesto, if you will, emphasises this. "In this shop," the sign says, "We do happy, we do beautiful and pretty . . . we do silly, we do cake, we do laughter . . . we do what we love."
