Sharon Murphy lost six and a half stone less than one year after giving birth to her fourth child.

Sharon shed 90 pounds in the last twelve months after joining Unislim just four weeks after giving birth to her son Nathan.

The stay-at-home mother's fourth pregnancy was "a major shock" as she had given birth just five months before.

"I was so depressed. It was such a shock," she told Independent.ie.

"I ate myself silly. I went to the deli every day. I made excuses and said it was the baby that wanted the food. I hated myself."

"At Nathan’s (now one) Christening last year, I’ve never felt so ashamed in all my life," she said.

"I didn’t want to go anywhere, I didn’t want my husband to look at me, I thought: ‘Sure why should he? I’m disgusting.’"

Sharon, from Bunclody, Co. Wexford, said that she began to gain weight over a decade ago when she first met her husband.

"When you get into a relationship it’s so easy to get comfortable and let yourself go."

"We used to keep salt and vinegar in the car and stop in every chipper," admitted the 31-year-old.

"At 21 I became pregnant with my first child Abbey. I put on four stone and never lost it. Two years later I was pregnant with my son Conall."

"After that I lost between two and three stone by myself and lost a bit more for my wedding in 2013, but I’ve never got to this stage. I would never get myself to lose more," she said.

"Two and a half years ago I was pregnant with my third child and became very heavy."

Sharon said that the birth of her fourth child was the turning point that motivated her to lose weight.

"Nathan was four weeks old when I joined Unislim this time last year. I said to myself: ‘I need to do this for me. I’ve always looked after everyone else, now I need to look after myself.’"

"Every week I brought my two youngest children to Unislim. It was hard, there were good days and bad days. One of the kids doesn’t sleep very well and I was getting 2-3 hours sleep a night. I also take care of a man who has lung cancer, out of the goodness of my heart, so I go to the hospital with him a couple of times a week."

One year on, Sharon has dropped from 17st 8lbs to 11st 2lbs, with a total weight loss of 6st 6lbs and says she's never been happier.

"Now I’m buzzing and I can’t be happier. I go running, I go to bootcamps."

"I run when the kids are settled, even if it means going at 11pm. It’s my time to myself."

"I believe if you really want something, you make it work," she said determinedly.

"It’s been a mixed  journey, but mostly good.  My life has changed dramatically. My diet, appetite, lifestyle."

"I’m enjoying life, I’ve energy for my four kids."

Sharon was recently announced as Unislim Woman of the Year 2016 and said her weight loss has inspired others to change their lifestyles.

"Sitting at home isn’t going to do it. Walk in to Unislim and you’re a winner already."

"Since being pregnant I thought I couldn’t lose weight, but it can be done."

"Now I hold my head high walking to the scales. I’m happy and bubbly."

"I’ve inspired people in my area, family members. It’s a great feeling to inspire others," she said.
