Mindful moment… Heaven is in the little moments
You could be run over by a truck tomorrow - isn't that how the saying goes? The message being that life's short, grab the moment, take risks, get on the plane... Do those things that you've been saving for someday. But what if the realisation that we are all fragile creatures who never know how long we have on the planet could prompt a different way of thinking?
What if, instead of feeling the pressure to do something drastic, we make the most of our lives by noticing them? By noticing the tiny things. The joy of chatting to a friend over coffee. The beauty of how the light changes as we come into autumn. The satisfaction of wearing your favourite skirt. We spend so much of our lives looking forward to the big moments - falling in love, having a family, getting promoted, retiring, going on holiday - we think that what happens today is insignificant, that it doesn't count, but it does. Some day in the future the memory of taking your children to the swimming pool or going with your mother to TK Maxx will seem magical. Don't wait until it's too late to realise that heaven is in the little moments that we are often in too much of a hurry to notice.
