Mindful moment… Do less, achieve more

I have been sick for the last few days and have been lying in bed sleeping, sweating and listening to audio books - the latest of which is a book called Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life by the late Wayne Dyer.
Dyer was pretty much your standard self-help guru. He beamed on Oprah, churned out book after book (more than 40) and had a place in Hawaii (where all these authors seem to go). I'd never read him before but he is proving the perfect sick-bed companion.
In his book he talks a lot about letting go, doing less and giving up our daily striving. Striving, he says, makes us tense, rigid and stressed. Our constant push to do more, buy more, be more, takes us out the natural flow of life and is counter productive. He says the good stuff happens when we stop forcing life, stop trying too hard.
I've been striving a lot over the last year - pushing myself with work, thinking that happiness lies with the next finished project, but now I'm tried. And sick. Time to stop. Let go. Do less. Then, says Dyer, everything I want and more will come to me. Effortlessly. Let's see…
