Mindful moment… Congratulate yourself
Published 03/01/2016 | 02:30
I have three words for you: don't do it!
Don't set yourself up for a fall right now by vowing to lose a stone by Easter, don't join the gym and do not engage in any of the usual New Year's resolutions. What's the point?
Come on… When have you ever stuck to any of them?
Yes, you've probably put on a few pounds. Yes, you feel a bit like a couch potato, and yes, you are probably hungover and depressed. This does not mean that you are a bad person in need of fixing.
Instead, I suggest writing a different kind of list. Write a list telling yourself all the brilliant things you did last year. They can be small. You cleared out your wardrobe. You painted the living room. You managed to get the kids to school every day. You got promoted at work.
Now, sit back make a cup of tea and congratulate yourself for everything you did.
Whatever you do this year is just the icing on the cake, you're already winning. I promise, you are. Even if it doesn't feel like it.
Happy New Year!
