Happiness upgrade… Do stop thinking about tomorrow
Published 09/08/2015 | 02:30
You'll be happy when you lose the weight. You'll stop worrying when you get that pay rise. Life can begin when you meet the man of your dreams or buy your first house…
It's great to have goals and dreams, but when the future becomes more important than today, we're in danger of missing out on our lives.
Every day just becomes a means to an end. Or, as Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now puts it: "Most people treat the present moment as if it were an obstacle that they need to overcome. Since the present moment is Life itself, it is an insane way to live."
And the thing is when you get to tomorrow - when you've lost the weight, bought the house, found the man - the chances are you'll barely give it a minute of notice before jumping on to the next goal.
So today, stop and take stock. Look out the window, stop hurrying and be grateful for what you have. Today.
