List your top 10 happiest times
What are the secrets of being happy? How you do look on the bright side of life?
One way is to write a list of the top 10 happiest moments of your life, according to Andy Cope, author of several books including Be Brilliant Every Day.
The general rule is that happiness comes from doing stuff rather than accumulating stuff. You'll realise that most of the things on your list are 'experiences' rather than 'products'. Set your stall out to have more experiences.
At the end of the day, spend five minutes writing down three things that have gone well, and why.
Watch out for the 90/10 principle. This states that 10pc of your happiness depends on things that happen to you while a whopping 90pc depends on how you react to these events. Make a conscious choice to have a positive attitude.
Listen… and I mean really listen to people. Stop finishing their sentences. Tune in and show an interest
Read a bedtime story to your kids. Read it like it is the most exciting book in the world.
Other happiness experts say if you want to be happier, develop an outgoing, social personality - accept invitations, join the walking club, book group or choir. The best way to savour pleasure is in the company of others. Build a rich social life.
