'I have a French attitude to wine... little and often'
Performance artist Amanda Coogan dreams of one day being chocolate-free, but in the meantime she gives her body what it needs. Edel Coffey finds out.
Do you consider yourself to have a healthy lifestyle?
To be honest, I'm not sure! I haven't been sick (knock on wood) so a healthy lifestyle hasn't been to the front of my mind but I do try and listen to what my body needs and try to add in some good healthy food and keep the body active.
Do you exercise regularly? If so, what do you do?
I cycle most places and when I'm very good I try and do some yoga.
Do you do it willingly or begrudgingly?
I actually quite enjoy it, it helps me focus on the day ahead.
What time do you go to bed?
I try to get to bed around 11am.
What time do you get up in the morning?
At 7am, I could set the clock to the time my son bounces in to me in the morning, no matter what time he goes to bed either!
What do you have for breakfast?
I start the day with a cup of hot water. Then, I'll try and have some fruit, and on a very bad (or good) day, I'll have a croissant. After a milky coffee and croissant, I can take on the world.
Tomatoes on toast! My neighbour grows tomatoes and I've just got bowls of them. Nutty brown bread toasted, melting butter, juicy tomatoes and a pinch of salt - beyond!
A salad, and a variation on a 'lettuce with...' theme. When I'm performing, I try and cut down on carb intake. It allows my body be more alert and in readiness for performing.
I would like to have a little amnesia here over my chocolate consumption but, I love milk chocolate!
Do you take any supplements
How much water do you drink?
As much as possible, but some days not enough! If I'm in the studio by myself, I'll try trick myself into drinking more water by filling up cups of hot water and pretending I'm having more coffee. It works for me.
Do you have a skincare routine?
Cleanse, tone and moisturise. I have to, otherwise my skin starts to give out to me.
I'm allergic to shellfish, and still raging about it! It only came on about 14 years ago after a dodgy lobster.
I have a French attitude to wine, little and often. Is chocolate a vice?
If I could change one thing about my lifestyle it would be…
Oh, the dream of being chocolate-free! If I didn't eat chocolate I'd be skinny I tell myself, but it's just so damn good!
