More than seven in 10 students said the high cost of college causes them anxiety or stress.
And 95.3pc of students think the cost of college is too high at €11,000 per year. Some 72pc of students are struggling financially to stay in college, according to the Union of Students in Ireland (USI).
USI president, Kevin Donoghue, said 15.2pc of those living below the poverty line in Ireland are students.
"Financial struggles affect everybody, especially students. We need to be mindful that when these issues arise, we act upon it instead of sweeping them under the carpet," said Jill O' Herlihy of Mental Health Ireland.
