A woman who once shed more than six stone (40kg) on The Biggest Loser has spoken of the desperation she felt after piling on all the weight she had lost after leaving the show.

Rebecca Moon (40) weighed more than 18st (115kg) when she was selected to be a contestant on the Australian version of the programme in 2011, during which she got her weight down to a healthy 11st (74kg).

After the programme wrapped, Rebecca became a personal trainer but said the realities of life as a working mum and wife soon left her back where she had started at 18st within a matter of years.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the Australian mum said she was extremely disappointed in herself after piling back on the pounds and said she felt like "she did not deserve to be skinny".

"I was crying to my husband, I thought why don’t I deserve to be [skinny]?"

"Being on the show we’re cut off from outside influences. I didn’t have a husband or kids or work to deal with. We just exercised as much as we could."

"I became a personal trainer. But I let a few things slip and it started creeping on," she said.

The mum said the programme sent her into a "rollercoaster" of yo-yo dieting, even though she had made healthy changes to her life compared to those she made prior to competing in the show.

"Even though I was eating so much better than before I went on TBL and exercising so much more than before, it just kept coming back on."

The mum was influenced to undergo gastric sleeve surgery after watching two of her friends go through the process.

"I called my friend who is a personal trainer and told him I was getting the surgery," she said.

"He said 'It’s not like you haven’t given it a fair crack."'

The reality show contestant underwent the surgery last year, and has since lost six stone (40kg), and has started a Instagram page aimed at helping others who may be battling with their weight.

"It’s not about how I look, it’s about how I feel. I feel fantastic and I feel healthy."
