After days of stuffing our faces with turkey, ham and Christmas cheer - weight loss is at the top of most Irish people's agenda.

Weight loss is the number one New Year's resolution for Irish people ahead of 2016, with 28% of people saying they want to shed their excess pounds next year. A further 21% say improving their fitness levels is high on their agenda.

A New Year's Resolution survey conducted by Ispos MRBI found that health and fitness are top of the wishlist for Irish people over the coming year.

18% plan to also quit smoking.

However, work is taking a backseat with resolutions as just 4% said workplace advancement was on their list.

Results also show that more and more people ares ticking to their guns when it comes to their New Year's resolutions, with an incredible 58% sticking to their 2015 goals.
