A British man has opened up about his decision to get a facial tattoo and said he is concerned that people will judge his young daughter.
Sean Green (26) has a geometric, black pattern inked from cheek to cheek, and said it is the “best tattoo I’ve ever seen”.
Speaking to BBC News, the father of one revealed that his tattoo artist warned him of the impact such a tattoo would have on his life.
However, Green proceeded with the tattoo, which he says he does not regret.
“As soon as he started putting it on I was just like, “that is the best tattoo I’ve ever seen”. I just, I love it.”
Despite Green’s delight at his ink, his mother revealed that she was devastated by his dramatic decision which she thought was short sighted.
“I got more offended as the tattoos got heavier,” she said.
‘[The facial tattoos] really, really upset me. And they still do, actually. They upset me for a long, long time.
“I don’t know if Sean at that time, or even now, has the concept of what this is going to be like for him in 20 years.
“I think in a lot of ways he’s not going to be able to do the work he’s always wanted to do. I don’t think he’ll ever get to do it.”
Green admitted that he’s been looked over for a promotion since making the decision to get inked on his face.
Despite his mum’s reservations, Green’s fiancé Laura Cantwell (22) said she was shocked when her partner came home looking dramatically different.
“The first tattoo that I saw really, was on his neck, nothing like he is now.
“It took my breath a way a little bit. I didn’t think it would be so bold. It was quite in your face. I felt a little bit sick – but I think that was the shock.’
“Going out in public, it changes your life,” she said.
“People look at Sean and they’re terrified, on a daily basis.
“It doesn’t bother Sean and it never has, but for me, it’s been a bit of a long process to accept the fact.”
The couple have a daughter, Skye, and Green admitted his one concern is that people will judge her for having a tattooed dad.
“It’s something that I’m concerned about, for Skye’s sake. But that’s all, really.
“I don’t want her to be singled out but I can only hope that she’s like me and takes pride in her family. You know, that’s just the way her dad is.”
