'I've lost over 5st in nine months after being cut from Operation Transformation'
A Dublin hairdresser who missed out on a slot on last season's Operation Transformation has since dropped five dress sizes.
Louise Butler Byrne, who manages a busy salon in Terenure, did not make it as one of the five leaders selected for the series in January after making it down to the last 20.
But Louise did not let this stop her and set out on her own weight loss journey. She is set to marry her boyfriend of five years, Jack, next summer.
Louise (29) will be sharing her story on tonight's episode of Celebrity Operation Transformation.
"I applied for the show and got down to the final 20," she told the Herald. "I followed as much of the OT plan as I could."
"I did a lot of research on nutrition at the beginning - I hadn't really taken much of an interest in it before. I was trying to see more of what my body needs, rather than what my body wants."
"There was so much lettuce going off in the fridge," she said.
But she persevered with the plan, researching healthy recipes and snacks that made her peers envious.
"I was enjoying what I was eating," she said. "The majority of my family would have a look at my food and say, 'Would you make me something like that?'"
Before embarking on her OT journey, Louise had struggled with her weight and her body image.
When she applied, Louise had just moved in with her boyfriend.
But she had warned him not to propose until she was fully comfortable with her body.
But after the "whirlwind" year, they are set to tie the knot next July.
"We've everything more or less planned now," she said.
"I only bought my dress the other week. I have gone down from a size 22 to a 14," she added.
"I can't remember the last time I was a 14."
With the nuptials arranged in Mount Druid in Westmeath, Louise hopes it will be a chance to celebrate with those who helped her achieve her goal.
"It's been a whirlwind with everything going on this year, and all the support I've gotten from family and friends," she said.
