The widely-lauded front cover shows Erica Jean Schenk pounding the pavement alongside the caption “Run Strong, Stay Cool”.

Schenk looks strong and stunning while jogging around Prospect Park, in the heart of Brooklyn, New York.

Schenk told E! News: "I hope I make an impact in women's body acceptance."

The cover which puts running stereotypes to bed has garnered a hugely positive response online, and it has gone viral on social media.

"Honestly, I was astonished," Schenk told People. "My family is overwhelmingly proud."

Schenk revealed how she initially thought her photos were for a feature story on athletic brands that make plus-size clothing. She later learned that she'd be a cover star.

"I'm over the moon that all these people see me and can relate," Schenk told E! News.
