'I play the wii at home to get my steps up'

Fiona Mulvanny (25), is one of many taking part in the Irish Heart Foundation's pedometer challenge.

"It really gets you thinking of ways to get more steps into your day, like taking the stairs instead of using the lift, or getting off the bus a few stops early."

After coming back from a sun-filled holiday in Lanzarote, Fiona needed motivation to get back into her fitness regime.

"The winter weather is perfect for long walks but even the rain is not a problem; I play Wii at home to get my steps up."

Since starting the challenge Fiona has gone back to the gym, for lunch-time classes.

"I am a very competitive person, so this is a great motivation to win the competition while getting fit."
