From Britney to Kirstie, the celebs who downsized
Chat-show queen Oprah has publicly battled the bulge throughout her career -- yo-yo-ing between 11 and almost 17 stone.
In 1988, she famously wheeled a wagon of fat on to the set of her talk show while wearing a pair of size-10 Calvin Klein jeans to represent her mammoth weight loss.
But the self-confessed food addict admits the scales always wins: "It's always a struggle. I've felt safer and more protected when I was heavy."
Bursting on to the pop scene in 1999, toned teen Britney was as famous for her unbelievable abs as her earworm tunes. From pop princess to slummy mummy in the space of a decade, however, Britney's bod went from hot to not -- showcased during a disastrous performance at the MTV Awards in 2007.
But resilient Brit regained her rock-hard midriff for her comeback world tour last year. Meanwhile, ex-husband Kevin Federline also went from 'K-Fed' to 'K-Fat' before joining VH1's Celebrity Fit Club to beat the bulge.
In 2006, Cheers actress Alley memorably appeared on Oprah in a bikini after winning her decades-long tug-of-war with weight on the Jenny Craig plan. But the perennial dieter, who chronicled her weight loss struggle on reality series Kirstie Alley's Big Life, soon ballooned back to nearly 16.5 stone.
Earlier this year, the 59-year-old launched her own diet product, Organic Liaison, before tweeting that she's no longer living the Big Life: "I've lost over 50 lbs . . . and I'm having the time of my life".
