What is it? As any expert will tell you, the key to sticking with exercise is to find something you really enjoy.

In 2016, more and more of us are gravitating towards the fun-filled classes that transport us from our 9-to-5 and, conveniently, keep us in shape both physically and mentally. For the more adventurous, or those bored to death of the treadmill, Aerial Acrobatics is hitting the spot. It blends gymnastics with dance, movement and bodyweight training.

What happens in a class? It all begins on the floor, where confidence in movement is built before you take to the sky. Every class starts off with a 25-minute circuit warm-up, followed by 45 minutes of technical training where you hone your skills with the aerial apparatus and improve flexibility. This is all capped off by 10 minutes of stretching. Newcomers can expect variety and plenty of bodyweight action. For those already feeling the fear, the Introduction to Aerial programme will put you at ease.

How long is each class? 80 minutes.

Where and how much? TakingFlight.ie for classes and timetables.
