Film boost for hard of hearing
The Irish Film Institute has started a new accessible cinema programme for people with disabilities. It is specifically for audiences who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, blind or visually-impaired.
On Thursday there is an open-captioned screening of Julianne Moore's new movie Maggie's Plan (left) for people with hearing impairments. All screenings of the movie are also audio-described.
The initiative follows a move by the Arts Council to provide support to the Irish Film Institute and Arts and Disability Ireland to work together and conduct research into how more cultural cinema titles could be made available to audiences with disabilities.
