Sponsored feature: Top trends in eyewear 2012
2012 sees a number of key trends coming through in eyewear for both men and women. We show you how to achieve five of the hottest new looks from the huge portfolio of glasses, including top designer names, available now at Specsavers
Here are some favourites, from Gok Wan, Red or Dead, Osiris and Timberland, as well as Specsavers’ own titanium collection.
1. DEEP RETRO LOOK
Don't be afraid to go deep! Deeper styles, often known as teacups due to their shape, are inspired by retro eras. These glasses are intelligent but sexy looking, with a unique keyhole nose feature. The vintage but trendy glasses have an iconic silhouette to help you achieve that timeless look. The Gok Wan 18 glasses are a hot tip for 2012.
2. CATS EYES
Cats' eyes' styles are ultra-feminine and flattering to heart-shaped and oval faces. The styles are inspired by the screen sirens of yesteryear, although Red or Dead 76 the look a 21st century makeover. These fun and spirited glasses are red hot and a must-have if you want to stand out.
This spring will run with a river of blue, in all shades. Titan B03 is made from titanium, the ultimate specs material, which is lightweight, strong and suitable for nickel allergy suffers. It’s also available in magenta, a blend of pink and purple that will also be big this season and flatters almost all skin tones and hair colours.
4. MILITARY FASHION
Fashion still has military firmly in its sights. Timberland is your best bet here with the TB1177 glasses. Designed especially for men, they’re dark green with a yellow candy stripe and also available in tortoiseshell with a gold-edged logo plaque.
5. GLAMOUR – DAY TO NIGHT
Prints on frames are increasingly popular, especially with a nod to the natural world. Osiris B26 glasses are a stylish must-have for women with flair and ideal if you want to charm with your specs. The Osiris Design collective is a group of designers from all over the world who specialize in creating glasses with new, fresh and exciting designs and materials.
