Health bits: Eye cancer shows in routine tests

One-in-two people diagnosed with the most common type of eye cancer is finding out during routine eye tests. They are discovering they have ocular melanoma, or melanoma of the eye, a condition which increases with age and in most cases is diagnosed in people in their 50s.

Symptoms include blurred vision, flashing lights, shadows and cataracts, and misting of the lens in the eye, according to the Irish College of Ophthalmologists.
