Exercise is good for the eyes
The fact that exercise is good for the brain in older people is not new - but how much do they need to do to get the benefits?
One six-month study of healthy over-65s in the United States had one group exercising moderately for 150 minutes per week - the current recommendation. Another exercised for 75 minutes per week, and one exercised for 225 minutes per week.
The findings were very promising for all older people engaging in any form of physical activity: all of the groups who exercised benefited.
And the more they exercised, the more benefits they saw, especially in terms of an improved ability to perceive where objects are in space and how far apart they are from each other (known as visual-spatial processing).
