Triona's trends

2016-10-16_lif_25049482_I4.JPG

I've always been totally obsessed with glowy, 'lit from within' skin. While most peeps kept highlighter for special occasions or night-time, I'd be buffing that shizz on like a maniac. Now we're not talking disco balls here; think fresh, dewy, illuminated skin. And that, my friends, is one of the biggest trends this season. So come on, glow with me!

The key to getting this look right is to use natural-looking products, so don't use anything with glitter, as it's ageing, and it tends to settle in lines.

Start with something like Victoria Beckham x Estee Lauder Morning Aura Illuminating Creme, €82, Brown Thomas. This is part moisturiser, part brightening primer, with micro-pearls to instantly illuminate. It's a multi-purpose product, so you can wear it alone or under make-up, or even to refresh and brighten. I also adore the packaging. The gold container is 'ribbed' -for your plesh! Why did I write that? Because it makes me giggle!

Now if you have wads of cash, go and get the new Sisley Sisleya Le Teint Foundation, above, €121 at Brown Thomas. It's the biz. It'd want to be, says you! Powered by the same botanical complex used in their other award-winning products, it claims to instantly perfect the skin, but also to work to improve skin over time.

Finally, a highlighter powder. Hmm, so many I love! What to choose here? I'm going with Laura Mercier's Shimmer Bloc, below, €45 at Brown Thomas, as this is a multi-purpose product, and we all know how much I love those! It's a highlighter, bronzer and blush all in one. The sections can be swirled together, or used individually.

Triona's trick

Why, oh why, does a mah-sive spot suddenly appear when you have run out of concealer? If you only have liquid foundation to help make that humdinger disappear, lucky for you, I know exactly what to do. Simply dab some of the foundation onto the spot, then let it dry for a few minutes so that the formula sets. Then, just lightly blend it out.

Grant me your scent

Getting the actor Richard E Grant to say 'pull like a dog' and 'shteak and spuds' in his besht wesht Cork accent on my Snapchat was hilarious. Like!

Richard was in town to talk about his new fragrance, following on from the success of Jack and Jack Covent Garden.

His new baby is Jack - Piccadilly '69, above, €120, which is exclusive to Brown Thomas.

Richard worked once again with the renowned nose Alienor Massenet to bring out this patchouli, petrol, bergamot, leather, musk and ginger delight. Like both of his previous creations, it's unisex, as Richard doesn't believe in having a sex-specific scent. It's most unusual and unforgettable, just like the man himself. Try it yourself. Just 'close your eyes and pull . . . the top off the bottle and give it a good old schniff!'

Pay your way

I love where Nails Inc in Brown Thomas has moved now - by the escalators on the second floor. It's the perfect spot for people-watching and having your paws prettified.

But the best news for young wans is the 'pay your age' promotion. It makes manicures more affordable for under-20s, like Lottie Moss, right. The younger you are, the more cash you save; if you're 16, say, you pay €16. The service includes a file, shape and paint, lasting 15 minutes. Ch-ch-check out their NailPure range, which contains no harmful carcinogens, and is supercharged with all the essential vitamins needed for healthy nail growth.

Triona's most wanted

Contrary to what any man might tell you, the skin is, in fact, the largest organ in the body! Hahahaha!

Anyhoo, skin is an organ, and is actually a really good indicator of your overall well-being. With this in mind, for all the fellas reading - I know you're out there - this one is for you.

Please say a great big 'hi there' and 'hello' to the Alpha Fit by Clarisonic, above, €220 at Boots. Specifically engineered for men's skin, this nifty number helps reduce the appearance of large pores, and it also clears away dirt, sweat and oil.

So with regular use, your skin will look smoother and healthier. It's kind of like the difference between using a manual brush on your teeth and using an electric toothbrush.

Get it now?

It's also waterproof, so you can use it in the shower, and, believe it or not, there are settings for men with beards and for those without any facial fuzz. But best of all, no matter how groggy, doolally, or hung-over you are, there's a handy beeping feature that lets you know when to move the gadget from your forehead to your nose and chin and then to your neck.

Use it with the Clarisonic face cleanser, although any facial cleanser will do.

Cult product

Jo Malone does haircare? What? I only found this out recently when I was mooching around its beauty boutique in Brown Thomas. Mooching? More like lashing on lotions like a loony! So anyway, if you're totes in Le Love with their Lime Basil & Mandarin fragrance, you can now buy the shampoo, above, for €22 at Brown Thomas, and the conditioner for €25 also at Brown Thomas. They both have a lovely citrus fragrance.
