Always avoid foods that encourage intestinal expansion, such as fried and super-saturated dishes. Healthy foods - onions, cauliflower, cabbage and baked beans - may also leave you feeling bloated.
Avoid fizzy drinks which also can cause discomfort. Remember the woman who caused an American Airlines plane to make an emergency landing following passengers smelling sulphur, back in 2006? Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought on board and a small pile of extinguished matches was found. The shame-faced female passenger later admitted she had struck the matches to conceal an unpleasant odour.
