Morton Estate Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 — a more restrained style of New Zealand Sauvignon that I heartily welcome; taut and crisp with refreshing citrus and a touch of nettles cutting through a ripe, passion-fruit core.
Lively all the way through with a long, minerally finish. 13.5pc. €12.95 regular price (less 20pc in March sale) Available from Mitchells CHQ, IFSC, Sandycove.
Camille Cayron le Pas de la Beaume Côtes du Rhône 2009 — cracking value from a cracking vintage. Medium-bodied and vibrant, with spicy black fruit, a streak of fresh red berries and herbs, in a supple, Grenache-dominated blend that elevates Côtes du Rhône well above everyday status. 14pc alc. €8.95. Available from McHugh’s, Kilbarrack and Malahide Road, Artane; Lilac Wines, Philipsburgh Ave, Fairview; Sweeneys, Harts Corner, Glasnevin; Redmonds, Ranelagh; Red Island Wines, Skerries.
