'It's a little tough' - Nicole Kidman removes chef's food from her mouth in most awkward live cookery segment ever
The actress appeared on The Ellen Show
As far as live cookery segments on TV go, this is probably one of the most cringeworthy of all time.
Hollywood star Nicole Kidman was not impressed with the food presented to her by chef Giada De Laurentiis on The Ellen Show - and practically spit it out live on air.
Kidman appeared on Wednesday's show and took part in the segment with the Italian American chef as she showed how to make artichoke arancini balls and clementine and fennel pizza.
De Laurentiis kicked off the awkwardness by asking Degeneres if she had experience with "any kind of balls before" and was reminded it was a family-friendly show.
The chef then told DeGeneres her ball looked more like "dog food" and the awkwardness continued to the degree that De Laurentiis exclaimed, "I don't know why I bother!"
When they ditched the balls in favour of making focaccia dough, which didn't go too well and was abandoned by Kidman.
The actress then took a piece of the finished focaccia and took a bite, but struggled to chew on it.
"It’s a little tough,” she said, adding, “I know you’re not meant to criticise but it’s a little tough."
She then removed the food discreetly from her mouth.
“Nicole, it’s been sitting there for like five hours. I hate doing these things for that reason,” said De Laurentiis.
She then told the audience she was only doing the segment to promote her new show on the Food Network.
