An Italian shop was accidentally selling tea containing cocaine for seveal years.

A bus driver from Genoa, known only as Roberto (38), tested positive for cocaine and said the only way he could have failed his routine drug test was due to drinking a cup of herbal tea the day before.

According to La Repubblica, Roberto proclaimed his innocence and even the doctor testin him drank a cup of "delisse alla coca" and also tested positive for the drug.

The shop which sold the tea had legally purchased all goods from a Milan-based Peruvian company and in Peru, coca tea is a long-standing cultural tradition.

Authorities seized all of the tea bags in circulation and the investigation continues.
