Keurig, famous for its pod-based coffeemakers, is branching out to compete with at-home drinks dispensing machines such as SodaStream to give consumers an instant, cold, fizzy fix.

The device, Keurig Kold, works just like a coffee dispenser by using pods to make the beverages. You just need to remove the seal, pop it in and push the button on the machine to instantly make your favourite soft drink.

And hey presto, you have your very own Coke, Diet Coke, Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry and Sprite.

The pods contain the flavour syrup and CO2 to give the beverage its bubbles without needing a CO2 canister.

It's also equipped with a thermal system which cools the drinks so you don't need to keep your pods refrigerated.

As well as your favourite soft drinks, the machine and its pods will also allow you to make craft sodas, ice tea, cocktail mixers, and sports drinks.

The Keurig Kold drink maker doesn't come cheap at €330 (US $369.99).

And as yet, it's currently only available to order online via the US site and they don’t ship to Ireland yet.
