Tesco Ireland are recalling a batch of soft cheese that was sold in their stores earlier this month due to harmful bacteria fears.
The Little Milk Company cheese is being recalled as a "precautionary measure", Tesco said in a statement.
Sold in Irish stores between April 6-8, the Brewers Gold cheese 150g packs were part of batch number 160209.
The recall is due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogenic bacteria that causes the infection listeriosis.
Point of sale recall notices are being displayed in Tesco Ireland stores.
The supermarket said they have recalled the product, which features a use-by date of May 11, after a "potential low-level contamination issue was discovered at the factory in which the product is produced".
"We are asking customers who have purchased affected products to return it to store for a full refund. For further information, customers can contact The Little Milk Company," the statement added.
The Little Milk Company has clocked up almost 25 awards for its organic cheese since it was founded in 2012. The company sells to 300 outlets in Ireland and has listings in over 1,000 stores globally.
