Is there such a thing as guilt-free drinking?
Probably not but Skinny Prosecco comes close as an option for low-calorie drinking.
The new beverage, created by Amanda Thomson of the UK-based company Thomson & Scott, clocks in at just 67 calories per 100ml – less than a banana.
It launched in April and, until now, had only been available to order online through Wines of the World.
However, from Friday, September 16, Skinny Prosecco available to purchase in-store at Brown Thomas Dublin, Cork and Limerick.
Hailing from Soligo in Italy's Treviso province, Skinny Prosecco also has less than half the sugar content of a standard glass of normal Prosecco, with the added benefits of being organic and vegan-friendly.
“I was raised on a sugar free diet and realised that everyone always asks what’s in their food but never what’s in their wine, Prosecco or Champagne. I was amazed at the amount of sugar and how little information we’re given about what’s in the bottle," Ms Thomson said.
"I’ve brought a brand to market that offers a top quality Prosecco with 0 to 7g of sugar per litre. Our Prosecco is also organic and vegan certified.”
Skinny Prosecco is priced at €24 per 75cl bottle.
