Man vs Food star taken off air following ‘thinspiration’ rant
Adam Richman’s new show Man Finds Food has been delayed after he abused commenters on Instagram.
Adam Richman, host of the Travel Channel’s cult show Man vs Food, has seen his new programme Man Finds Food ‘indefinitely’ postponed after he abused commenters on his Instagram account.
An argument erupted after Richman posted a photo with the caption: "Had ordered this suit from a Saville Row tailor over a year ago. Think I'm gonna need to take it in a little …"
He then added the hashtag #thinspiration, a term used on social media to promote and celebrate unhealthy body image and eating disorders.
When confronted by a follower, who criticised Richman for using the tag, the television host responded by writing ‘DILLIGAF’, which means ‘Does it look like I give a f**k?’
Richman then proceeded to respond to critics with a series of abusive rants littered with profanities.
In response to one follower he wrote: ‘Oh eat a bag of s**t, dummy. No apology is coming. If it inspires someone to attain a healthy thinner body then that was what it was meant to do. Only f*** up it seems was your dad's choice to go without a condom.’
He then suggested another engage in self harm.
The post has now been deleted and Richman has apologised for his harsh words.
"I've responded to internet hate recently with vile words directed at those hating me. I am sorry, I should know better & will do better,” he said.
The Travel Channel was prepared to air the new series of his show this week.
"Travel Channel is postponing the July 2 series premiere of Man Finds Food,” a spokesperson said.
