Forget newfangled sweets! Apple tart and ice cream is Ireland’s favourite dessert

The Irish are a nation of traditionalists when it comes to dessert, according to new research which found that apple tart is the country’s favourite post-dinner indulgence.
A new study found that Irish people were most likely to indulge in apple tart with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream more than any other desserts, including chocolate brownies and sponge cake.
The study carried out by Carte D’Or also found that Irish men are exceptionally greedy when it comes to their ice-cream fix and one in three admitted they would never share their dessert with their significant other.
This compares to 26pc of women who always share their dessert with their sweetheart.
Meanwhile, the research found that Irish people are eating more and more ice-cream in general, with 63pc of Irish men admitting to indulging in dessert up to four times a week compared to 44pc of women.
Speaking of the story David Suter, Brand Manager for Carte D’Or said: “It is well-known that Irish people are big fans of ice cream and with Easter upon us and the summer season fast approaching, make the most of special occasions and treat your family and friends to a delicious dessert with Carte D’Or Vanilla.
“Whether you want to create a simple or spectacular dessert, Carte D’Or Vanilla brings the delicious flavour and taste of authentic vanilla ice cream home to you!”
