The multi-million record selling British singer tucked into supper with two friends at Andersons Cafe in Glasnevin much to the delight of fans who immediately recognised the star.

“My staff didn’t recognise Cliff at first, it was our customers who pointed him out and were excited to see him in Glasnevin,” said owner Trish Vambervelle.

“He came for dinner with two male friends but was really happy to take pictures with everyone and was such a friendly and normal guy. Maybe he was visiting friends in the area.”

Having spent his career jetting around the world, Trish revealed that Cliff’s tastes were far from exotic.

“We had a delicious salmon pasta dish on that night, it’s one of our specials and Cliff went for that,” she said.

“We wanted to give him privacy but when they had finished it was just too tempting not to ask for a photo with him.”

Customers hoping for an impromptu performance from the ‘Living Doll’ singer were left disappointed as Cliff didn’t make a song and dance about his visit.

“Cliff didn’t sing a song, but I’m sure nobody expected him to. In the past we’ve had former President Mary McAleese here but it was a good boost for everyone to see Cliff as well,” she finished.

The star will take his tour ‘Still Reelin’ and A Rockin’’ to Dublin’s Bord Gais Energy Theatre in June to celebrate 55 years in show business.
