Everyone wants to talk to Joe, but would you let him cook?
"I didn't like the pork at all. It was very bland, boring and quite sweet" and "the Brussels sprouts, just not up to scratch really".
Readers will be shocked to hear the restaurant critics were talking about the cooking of Liveline host Joe Duffy.
The Diary can reveal that having endured three pay cuts, the 55-year-old radio personality could be put to work by his RTÉ slavemaster in a kitchen this Christmas in a Yuletide special of The Restaurant.
Could Joe have been tempting fate when he told Hot Press magazine's Olaf Tyaransen this issue about Liveline: "There's just one week we're not on, that's three days over Christmas."
That's when you'll be on the TV Joe, in what we hear could be a cook-off against Twink, or one of The Commitments.
But contracts have yet to be signed.
"The whole idea of The Restaurant is that no one is supposed to know who is in the kitchen, so we can't comment," said a spokesman for the TV show when we rang.
But one wonders, once the critics have eaten his food this Christmas, will they still want to "talk to Joe"?
Meanwhile, programme-makers Vision Independent Productions could soon be about to take the show's format to the US, with Warner Brothers in discussions to make a version in Hollywood.
