It’s one of the most nutritious breakfasts you can eat, but how do you make porridge more interesting?

Porridge is full of fibre, protein and B vitamins, but on its own it can be a bit bland.

Today marks World Porridge Day, and we’ve 10 toppings that will make your breakfast so good that they would make Goldilocks jealous.

1. Banana and honey

An old classic that you can’t go wrong with.

2. Granola and strawberries

Make your own granola to avoid the unnecessary addition of sugar and sweeten it up with some fresh strawberries.

3. Sliced apple and nuts

Easy to grab and go, prepare the apple and nuts the night before so you can hit the snooze button one more time in the morning.

4. Fresh berries and chia seeds

Chia seeds give a nice crunch, and are high in fibre and protein.

5. Yoghurt and pumpkin seeds

So easy to make that you could do it with your eyes closed.

6. Raw cacao seeds and Nutella

Satisfy your sweet tooth first thing in the morning with raw cacao seeds and a spoonful of Nutella.

7. Peanut butter and pecans

Go nutty with this combination of peanut butter and pecans.

8. Frozen berries and yoghurt

Melt the berries over the stove and add to your porridge with a drop of yoghurt on top to warm you up on cold winter mornings.
