Cringe-worthy dad dancing, a smooch between parents and using youthful lingo are the most embarrassing things that mums and dads can do to mortify their children according to new findings.
Researchers compiled a list of the most blush-worthy crimes parents can commit after surveying more than 2000 parents with children aged between five and 20.
The study found that 70pc of parents find themselves in a “generational timewarp” and act far younger than their age, meaning that parents aged 40 feel as though they are 20pc younger and have a mental age of 32.
While parents dancing is the act that is most likely to embarrass children, mums and dads lobbing the gob on one another also rated highly on the list.
Using outdated slang like “duh”, “chill pill” and “as if” also caused the children of those surveyed to cringe.
The research, conducted by Thorpe Park, found that kids are most embarrassed of their parents at age 14.
The theme park is preparing to launch designated ‘Dad Dancing’ areas throughout the park as their summer-long festival Island Beats continues.
