Emmy award winner Baz Ashmawy's social media post on his daughter's first day at school will make you smile.

The 42-year-old TV presenter said he was heartbroken to send his "baby" off to school, in a tongue-in-cheek style Instagram post yesterday.

"So First day at school today. Tantrums, tears. Wailing and whinging...made a right scene."

"So much so she asked me to leave and pull myself together. #MyBabiesGone #heartbroken #SadDad #DadLifestyle," he posted.

Baz, who is planning a special Christmas show with his mum Nancy for RTE, has previously spoken about how fatherhood has changed him.

"I am a lot more focused on family time because it can be really hard to juggle that if you are away a lot," Baz said last year.

He joked that his children were "ruining my life".

"I haven't drank in six months or so. I have kids so that is taking priority over going to the pub," he said.

The popular presenter and his mum Nancy are a big success overseas after winning an International Emmy for Sky series 50 Ways to Kill Your Mammy.

While he had insisted that the third series would be its last, last month he revealed that the Christmas show was in his plans.
