New mum gives birth on board a flight and names her baby after the airline
A pregnant woman who gave birth on board a flight from Singapore has named her baby after the airline in honour of the crew who helped her deliver the child.
The mother was travelling on a three-hour flight to Yangon, Myanmar with budget airline Jetstar when she went into labour.
Fortunately, there were three doctors on board who helped the airline crew guide the woman through pregnancy and safely deliver her 6lb. 7oz baby.
To show her gratitude, the mother paid tribute to the crew in the baby's name - Saw Jet Star.
Fortunately, her own family name is Star.
The airline said it was proud of the way the crew helped the woman "to ensure the safe delivery of our youngest ever passenger on a flight".
"The happy arrival of baby Jet Star was met with a round of applause from other passengers on the plane, so we're sure it's not a moment they'll ever forget either."
Relieved by the safe outcome and pleased with the positive publicity, Jetstar Asia has offered SG$1000 (€880) in baby supplies to the new mum and flight vouchers to the doctors who helped during the birth.
