Milestone as 'miracle' twins start preschool

Fiona Ellis

THE mother of former conjoined twins has said "her real-life miracles" have reached a "wonderful milestone" starting preschool last week.

Hassan and Hussein Benhaffaf, who celebrate their fourth birthday in December, were each born without one leg as well as being joined at the chest and abdomen.

They were separated after a marathon operation at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London in April 2010.

The cheery pair started 'big boy school' at their local preschool, Wendyhouse Montessori in Carrigtwohill, Cork, on September 4 and their mum Angie said the twosome love every minute of it.

"For us this is truly what life is all about," she said. "Just seeing their happy little heads going into school. They love it. These are precious moments for us. It's just all our dreams come true."
