Down on the farm

This summer the Airfield Estate in Dundrum offers a wonderful opportunity for families to discover more about farming, food and the natural world. Egg collecting here starts at 10am followed by milking in the farmyard at 10.30am. You can also take guided tours of the house and gardens in the mornings, while 3.15pm marks feeding time where you can join the farmers to feed Jersey cows, sheep, pigs, goats and donkeys. This year, the estate boasts a new interactive place area, Naturescape, which is suitable for 4- to 12-year-olds, where they can venture on woodland walks, crawl through tractor tyres and test their agility on balance beams. Admission to Airfield Estate is €10 for adults, €5 for children, with children under three going free. See www.airfield.ie
