Dingle Skellig Hotel & Peninsula Spa

The town of Dingle in Co Kerry is a perennial favourite for families, and it's not hard to see why. The place is just teeming with lovely, family-friendly things to do, including Fungi the Dolphin Boat Trips and swimming with Fungi, visiting the Dingle Aquarium, horse-riding, fishing, Irish-language courses, the Blasket Islands, and that's before we even get onto the magnificent scenery such as the soaring mountains and safe, sandy beaches.

A great hotel choice for families is the four-star Dingle Skellig Hotel on the shores of Dingle Bay, which has 113 rooms, including superior rooms and suites, and which was voted in the ' Top 10 FamilyFriendly Hotels 2009' by the 4Kids magazine.

This comes as no surprise when you see what's on offer for little ones at the Skellig Crèche and the Fungi Kids' Club, which are both part of the Dingle Skellig.

The Skellig Crèche caters for children aged from four months to four years and is open from April to October, seven days a week (9.30am –12.30pm and 5.30pm –9.30pm). It is also open every weekend in the low season. Skellig Crèche is a member of the National Children's Nurseries Association and allows parents to enjoy dinner or a pampering treatment, knowing their little one is being well looked after.

For slightly older kids, the Fungi Kids' Club caters for children over the age of four and provides a range of entertainment and activities, including pool games, arts and crafts, face painting, talent nights, quizzes, bouncing castle, trips to Dingle Oceanworld and lots more. The Fungi Kids Club is available in the high season and school holidays seven days a week, and in the low season at weekends.

For mums and dads, there is The Peninsula Spa, which offers a large range of facial and body treatments, including unique signature treatments developed by the hotel's own therapists using local produce. You can even enjoy the views of Dingle Bay from the outdoor hot tub!

You can also take in the breathtaking scenery while enjoying your meals at the Coastguard Restaurant, which specialises in fresh, locally caught seafood.
