Campaigning Nicolas may put Carla (and baby) in the picture
French president could be as keen as paparazzi for wife to ditch plan to hide their new-born child, says Aoife Drew
SO Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is going to hide away her new baby from the whole world. On a French TV programme last week, the French First Lady protested that "I will do everything to protect this infant, and I'll be absolutely rigorous. I will never show photos of this child. I will never expose this child."
Good for you Carls, you be a mere poule or clucky mother if you want to. But maybe by saying you won't let the child be in the public eye, you are making those paparazzi pictures even more sought after? Do you really think Paris Match is going to let you away with putting baby in a burka instead of a Bugaboo?
And what if your dear husband Nicolas suggests that a few little photos of the new baby couldn't hurt?
After all, from Kennedy to Cameron, a bonny baby always helps the image of a political papa. And Sarkozy could do with all the help he can get right now.
Sure, right now, you're not feeling great. You've piled on the pounds. Such a bummer after all that hard-earned cash spent on plastic surgery.
But this rough patch won't last forever, you'll snap back into shape in jig-time, n'est ce pas?
Don't make your mind up just yet. You've just got the pre-birth blues. It's highly likely you're experiencing the joys of late-term pregnancy. Although it's hard to imagine, you are only human and thus probably snoring like a trooper and those haemorrhoids are killing you. Are you sure it's not just you that you'd like to hide from the cameras?
Perhaps the lady doth protest too much. At People are Talking, we see plenty of "stolen" snaps of Nicolas Sarkozy changing nappies in your future. Bon courage.
