You might struggle to find a Bartley in Ireland but US publication Buzzfeed reckons it’s one of the “Irish” names set for world domination.

The questionable entry is eighth on a list of 17 “strikingly beautiful” Irish baby names set to “take over” published by the website this week.

The list also includes Braden (“not an uncommon Celtic surname”), Quinn (“striking and classic”) and Vaughan (“completely and utterly unforgettable”).

Thankfully, traditional Irish names also feature on the list such as Niamh, Caoimhe, Cliodhna, Sinead and Finn.

Meanwhile, Jack and Emily are the most popular baby names chosen by Irish parents who are falling away from traditional Irish names.

James, Daniel, Sophie and Emma also rate highly on the list, released by the Central Statistics Office last year.

More unusual names registered in Ireland in 2014 included Miley, Destiny, Braxton and Cooper, while Murphy remained Ireland’s most common surname.
