Newly-wed Faizan Patel is currently on his honeymoon alone after his wife lost her passport.
Patel, a photographer from New Dehli, India, was left with no choice but to go solo on his honeymoon after his wife mislaid her passport two days before their trip.
Patel has been using Twitter to post updates on the lost passport and his trip, which he dubbed “honeymoon without honey.”
However, the power of social media has worked in Patel’s favour as his tweets were picked up by India’s Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj.
“This is how I am travelling with my wife as of now,” wrote Patel alongside a picture of him holding his wife’s photo on a train.
The tweet garnered plenty of attention on social media, and Swaraj wrote back to him saying: “Ask your wife to contact me. I will ensure that she is with you on the next seat.”
Patel’s wife Sana was issued a duplicate passport and given an appointment to get a visa to travel to Europe.
“You’re a beacon of hope,” wrote the couple on Twitter to the Minister.
As of today, Sana has applied for her visa and is waiting to hear from the embassy.
Here’s hoping the couple are reunited soon.
Thanks to @SushmaSwaraj, the passport is almost issued. Now the problem is the next available date at the VFS is on Thursday.— Faizan Patel (@faizanpatel) August 9, 2016
