'I just want to get stuck in to the Leaving Cert'
Rebecca Merrigan (17) from Trinity Comprehensive Secondary School in Ballymun is feeling anxious about the big day, but is already looking forward to having the exams behind her.
These are essentially the exams to beat all exams, and the closer I get to it, the more the nerves are building.
But now that it’s here I just want to get stuck in and get through them.
I’ve been trying not to let the stress get on top of me, even though it has been a pretty tough year. I’m glad that the exams are kicking off with English Paper 1. It’s a strong subject for me, and as long as the topics are inspiring, it should be a good way to settle in.
My mam has been really great all year. She always knows exactly what to do. She knew when I needed to be told to sit down and study and when I needed to relax a bit, too - and, most importantly, when to provide cups of tea. The year has really brought me closer to all of my school friends. Everyone is under the same pressure and we’ve all banded together to get through it.
The BsC in Multi-Media in DCU is my top choice.
