CUTS in resources for disadvantaged schools signalled in Budget 2012 may be reversed, it was indicated in a Dail debate last night.
On the Dail’s first day back Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn said his Department would prepare a report within four weeks on the impact of the cuts on individual schools.
The proposed cuts mean that some of the most disadvantaged schools in the country were due to lose some existing teaching posts.
Sinn Féin TDs, speaking on their party's private members motion criticising the cuts, targetting Labour deputies in particular.
In response Minister Quinn said he had asked his Department to prepare a report within four weeks on how the planned cuts will impact on each school on a case by case basis.
