DIT tops the class at media awards
DUBLIN Institute of Technology reigned supreme at the national student media awards, bagging seven honours.
Al McConnell, of the DIT student newspaper 'The Edition', scooped the Editor of the Year title, which was sponsored by the Irish Independent.
The awards, held in the Ballsbridge Hotel by student website Oxygen.ie and now in its 14th year, showcases the best in student media across print, radio, film, television and design.
The Dublin college also took top honours in the Radio DJ of the Year, Features Writer, Colour Writer of the Year and News Photographer of the Year categories.
DIT also bagged the Radio Production of the Year award for News and Current Affairs – ending DCU's four-year stranglehold on the award. Dun Laoghaire's IADT came home second with a hugely impressive four awards, trumping some of the country's largest universities and colleges.
