From local roots to an internationally regarded institution, DIT is today one of the largest providers of higher education in the country. With a history spanning more than 120 years, the institute has, since its inception, been a pioneer in making education accessible to people from diverse backgrounds. It aims to provide the best educational experience to each and every one of its students and is continually developing and enhancing its courses to respond to both the needs of its students and the demands of the employment market. Every year DIT helps thousands of individuals to re-skill, retrain and rebuild their careers.

Through Springboard, DIT is offering free places on a wide range of its part-time postgraduate, undergraduate, and continuing professional development courses. These courses are targeted at areas of the economy where there are skills gaps and where growth is anticipated, and range from computer gaming, energy management, supply chain management, cloud computing, food product innovation, medical device innovation, accessible web design and building retro-fitting.

They are also designed for people who don't necessarily have a background in these areas but are willing to try a new direction. As DIT's Springboard Co-ordinator Robert Murphy says: "With the choice of 40 different courses, from skills training to masters level, DIT is offering jobseekers the opportunity to study in their chosen field and to re-skill, re-train and rebuild their career."

As well as state-of-the-art facilities, DIT also has a range of supports in place to help applicants decide what course to take, get through the application process and get settled into college life. Highlighting the success of past graduates, Mr Murphy says: "As a graduate of DIT, you'll be in good company. Surveys continuously show DIT graduates are amongst the most employable. The percentage of DIT graduates entering directly into employment on completion of their programme is consistently higher than the national average."

DIT's flexible, part-time courses on the Springboard programme will begin in September 2011. For more information on what DIT has to offer see www.dit/upskill or telephone them at 01 402 7527.
