All that glitters is gold... and silver and copper this season
Gemma Arterton demonstrates how to wear shimmering fabrics this season in this Temperley London sequinned jumpsuit with a deep V-neckline. The zig zag pattern adds an interesting and very cool edge.
There was a time when shiny gold attire was the preserve of glitzy grannies.
Not any more with metallics, in particular gold, poised to be a seasonal stand-out. Shimmering fabrics and accessories were seen across the catwalks with many designers re-working iconic pieces using luxurious metallic materials. Precious metals on gorgeous gowns are a no-brainer for eveningwear but this trend isn’t just for after dark. Metallurgy fused with athletic wear to produce pieces you can wear at any time of day. The reflective properties of metal were played up across classic pieces including leatherman jackets, sleeveless bombers, jumpsuits, pleated skirts and joggers. Allow sporty metallics — in rich shades of bronze, copper and gold — to bring a sophisticated edge with sharp tailoring and clean lines. One statement piece is enough, but if you’re feeling feisty go for a head-to-toe look.
Break away from the hustle and bustle of it all with your closest girlfriends and enjoy the royal treatment with the ‘Just for Girls’ package at The Radisson Blu Royal hotel in Dublin city centre. The day begins with a ‘Beauty Bootcamp’ workshop where you’ll learn how to become your own make-up artist, get insider techniques on how to create clean, glossy daytime looks and glam, evening make-up. Looking and feeling suitably chic, it’s time for food. A delectable afternoon tea with prosecco served in the chic Sky Suite — the hotel’s exclusive rooftop penthouse with panoramic views over the city — with delights including Marino oak smoked salmon, and buttery fruit scones with lemon curd and clotted cream. The perfect opportunity to catch up, relax and be pampered in style. The package starts from €95pp. Overnight stays from €220 per room with bed and breakfast. Nail two of this season’s hottest trends by combining metallic separates with bold primary colours. For instance, pair a metallic bomber jacket with a pair of cobalt blue cropped trousers and a pair of ankle boots for a sartorial high-five.
