Ahead of Independent.ie's #CityCycling series we asked our readers to show us why they love cycling.

We asked for photos and stories - whether you cycle for business or pleasure - and you really delivered.

Reader Heidi Kelly-Hogan says she started cyling to work a few weeks ago (18 kilometres each way).

"Luas and walking to work takes one hour. Cycling takes 56 minutes! It's a no-brainer," Heidi told independent.ie.

Reader Charlotte Eglington from Limerick said her daily 20km return cycle to work leaves her feeling "absolutely energized".
